4.1 Introduction to Academic Research
-Look for keywords
: You will know what ideas and information you need to research.
(synonyms 도 찾아본다)
-Examine how many parts there are to the topic
(as you must answer/address all parts of the topic to have a chance get great marks)
-Look at the instruction/ task words
: These words tell you how to respond and organise your writing
(ex. DISCUSS 가 task 일때는 you need to present an argument where you have a position on the topic and provide evidence to support that position)

4.3 Citing Others' Work
( Why cite? )
The answer to the question of 'Why cite?' is to maintain appropriate academic standards and honesty. You will need to use other people's ideas or words in your writing to make it stronger, and when you do this it is appropriate to acknowledge the fact that these are not your own ideas or words.
The in-text citations are a key part of a researched academic paper. Citation formats for the three most common referencing conventions are namely Harvard, APA (7th edition) and MLA (8th edition).

reference section contains only the works which have been cited in the main text. A bibliography, on the other hand, contains additional sources, which the writer has referred to while writing the work but not actually used in the main text.
4.4 Paraphrasing Ideas
( Paraphrasing을 잘하자 )
paraphrase는 quote과는 다르게 " .. " 를 사용하지 않고, 단어와 문장의 구성을 바꿔서 자신이 해석한 것을 기반으로 쓴다.
길이는 비슷하게 유지하고 꼭 in-text citations를 첨부한다 !!!!!
Paraphrasing 잘하는 법
1. 이해를 똑바로 한다
2. 동의어/유의어를 사용해서 다시 쓴다
3. 단어들을 다르게 사용할때 의미가 바뀌지 않도록 주의한다
4. 문장의 구성을 다르게 한다
5. 꼭 in-text citation을 첨부한다
*문장구성을 다르게 하는 방법으로
수동/능동을 바꿔보거나 긍정/부정을 다르게 사용한다거나 조동사를 사용할 수 있음!!!

4.6 Summative Assessment Task
Types of sentences may include: background sentence, elaboration sentence, explanation sentence, linking sentence and a sentence to conclude the paragraph. Use a variety of sentences to demonstrate your understanding of the topic area and the use of evidence from the sources provided.
