CELL JUNCTIONS
1. Gap juction : transporting ions..
2. Adherence juction : support structure, stick cells to each other
3. Tight juction : limit the passage of molecules and ions through the surface of between cells
TIGHT JUNCTIONS
They consist of a network of claudins and other protiens.
They limit the passage of molecules and ions through the surface between cells.
So most materials must actually enter the cells by facilitated diffusion or active transport in order to pass through the tissue.
Even water molecules, small ions can't pass through tight juctions.
They block the vertrical movement of the cell.
GAP JUNCTIONS
connexons are the subnits of the channel.
Gap juctions are located in the synapse, their coupling the electrical synapses are faster than the transmitters of signals.
Gap juction between oocyte and granulosa cell is important for oocyte maturation.
